Emma Lee Bunton, the youngest of the Spice Girls, was born on the 21st January 1976 to parents Pauline (a karate
teacher) and Trevor (a milkman) in Finchley, London. She grew up in nearby Woodside Park, and attended a local primary
school. She appeared in many commercials as a young child and eventually headed to Sylvia Young Theatre School at
the age of 11. This was around the time her parents split up, and she and her younger brother P.J. (Paul James) stayed
with their mother.
She completed her studies and at 18 was suggested by singing coach Pepi Lemer as a member of girl group 'Touch',
created by management team Chris and Bob Herbert. The group had 4 members already - the rest of the Spice Girls! The
girls went on to have major success from 1996 to 2001 as the Spice Girls and this site has information about how it all began and how Spicemania hit.
Emma has pursued solo projects, mainly since the band split, and has had great success. She has had hits
with songs such as 'Free Me', 'Maybe', 'What Took You So Long' and 'I'll Be There' as well as a cover of 'What I Am' with
Tin-Tin Out and 'Downtown' in 2006 for Children In Need. She has had 3 albums - 'A Girl Like Me' in 2001, 'Free Me' in 2004 and
'Life In Mono' in 2006 which have done well.
In 2006, she competed in reality dancing show 'Strictly Come Dancing' and did very well with partner Darren
Bennett coming in 3rd place overall. She has filmed commericals, had cameo roles in 'Neighbours' and 'Absolutely Fabulous'
and also done presenting work and appeared in a couple of Bollywood films over the years.
On 10th August 2007, she and partner Jade Jones (who live in Hampstead in London) welcomed baby
Beau, and she soon afterwards got into rehearsals for the reunion show with the other girls which kicked off at the end of
2007.
